Vinoble 2026 · Jerez de la Frontera
The Tasting Keynote.
A reveal, a voice, and a flight of seven. Commandaria takes its place among the world's great noble wines.
I · The Reveal
A wine three millennia old, introduced anew.
For the first time at Vinoble, the curtain rises on Commandaria — the oldest named wine in the world. The reveal opens the session: a single bottle, a single light, and the long arc of Cypriot winemaking gathered into one moment.
What follows is not a presentation but a recognition: that the noble wines of the world have always been missing one of their own.

II · The Keynote
Juancho Asenjo on the lineage of noble wines.
Acclaimed wine writer and critic Juancho Asenjo delivers the keynote — placing Commandaria within the lineage of the world's great fortified and sun-dried wines, from Pedro Ximénez to Tokaji, from Madeira to Vin Santo.
Drawing on decades of tasting and scholarship, Asenjo traces the unbroken thread from Hesiod's amber nectar to the Crusader commanderies, and onward to the present cellars of the Troodos.
III · The Flight
Seven wines.
One ancient story.
The session inaugurates the 3-day Vinoble exhibition with a curated flight of seven wines — a chronology in the glass, from a bright young Commandaria to a decades-old rare reserve.

- I
Young Commandaria
An exceptional demonstration of single varietal Commandaria of 5 years of age despite youth, setting future path for lighter bodied wine.
- II
Legacy Unfortified
When wines leave their mark on the winery and style, hallmark for aged wines over 12 years with traditional blend yet unfortified for the sun-dried sweetened grapes.
- III
Myth appeal
An inspiration for Commandaria with all the characteristics in aspiring form and taste for the amber wine with a distinctive bouquet for unfortified wine.
- IV
Youth and fortified
Sundried Xynisteri and Mavro, minimum years in Commandaria casks. Full body, layered, contemplative.
- V
Honors to blends
Cut in traditional manner of blending different vintages, naturally sweet, singular wines sourced from Troodos South-Eastern vines grown on magmatic soils.
- VI
Classic and Exceptional
Vintage Commandaria with over 20 years of age, exceptional cuvée: toffee, leather, dark caramel, distinctive of the fortified style.
- VII
Rare Uniqueness
Drawn from a multi-decade solera. The closing pour: depth, oxidative complexity, eternal length.
