Cyprus · Est. before history was written
Pressed from sun-dried Xynisteri and Mavro grapes on the slopes of Troodos. Aged in oak, in stone, in patience. Now, for the first time at Vinoble.
800 BC — Today
Hesiod described it. Crusader knights of the Order of St. John gave it its modern name — Commandaria, after their commandery near Kolossi. Richard the Lionheart toasted his wedding with it in 1191.
We continue the unbroken practice: hand-picked grapes laid on the ground to concentrate under the Cypriot sun, then pressed, fermented, and rested for years in oak.
